    Solve the following equation to win 100000 WL Credits and a duelling Minigame.

    3x + 4y = 5,
    2x - 3y = 9

    x=?
    y=?

    Find 'x' and 'y'

    SHOW YOUR WORK! (how did you do it?)

    Looks like simultaneous equations

    1)
    3x + 4y = 5 (1)

    2x – 3y = 9 (2)



    We need (1) and (2) to have the same number of x's so we multiple (1) by 2 and (2) by 3 so they both have 6 x's

    6x + 8y = 10 (1)*2

    6x - 9y = 27 (2)*3

    Now to get rid of the x's we take one of the equations from the other. It is easier to do (2)*3 -(1)*2

    6x - 9y = 27 (2)*3

    • 6x + 8y = 10 (1)*2


    -17y = 17

    If we dovide this equation by -17 we get

    y = -1

    We can now plug this into value of y into (1) to get

    3x -4 = 5

    add 4 on both

    3x = 9

    Divide by 3

    x = 3

    Now to check put x and y into (2)

    6 - (-3) = 9



    x = 3, y = -1

    I didn't say that you can't check on other places, but I mentioned above:

    "SHOW YOUR WORK! (how did you do it?)
    You must reply with:

    Since this wasn't YOUR workings and as I thought that you typed the whole answer, it could mean a disqualification and the offered prize can move to another giveaway for another criteria.

    You could have taken a reference and do it by yourself, but using google to find the answer, isn't smart enough but since you answered it, I'll let @Xypher do the judgement since whether you should win the prize or not

    Also, This is a GCSE level question. If you have used google, it means you are not on that level or if you were, i didnlt think that you needed to use google on that.
    Another eligible user could have done this eq and won this giveaway.

    OH SHIT IT'S OPEN AGAIN?

    3x + 4y = 5,
    2x - 3y = 9

    okay multiply top equation by 2 and bottom equation by 3

    6x + 8y = 10
    6x -9y = 27

    subtract the 2 new equations from each other

    17y = -17

    therefore y = -1

    substitute y = -1 into the top equation (right at the top)

    3x + (4 x -1) = 5

    3x - 4 = 5

    3x = 5 + 4

    3x = 9

    therefore x = 3
