Accepted Have healing counted as afm on Jail Break(TF2)

Do you think this should be a rule?

On Jail Break(TF2) the rules never say anything about healing as a medic counting as afm so it usually is decided by warden. In advanced options there is a setting where your medigun heals without holding it down so it would be considered afm. The common counter argument is how do you tell if its afm or not? That is true so I personally think it should be a rule since you can't tell if a medics healing is afm or not. That if the Medic stops healing or switches targets it's considered not afm since they are using their mouse to switch.

The thing is though, warden does not decide, if you heal, whether you have auto-heal or not when warden says AFM, you are KOS. Warden has no way to tell if you have auto-heal besides your word, which is faulty, so he has to assume you don't have auto-heal, therefore making it kos

Em he's correct?
I mean if you are healing someone and warden tells you to be AFM, it'd actually be not AFM to move your mouse to stop??
Given that most players who use medic have auto heal enabled which keeps healing when you don't hold the mouse down.

the action of healing by default involves pressing mouse 1 and continuing the action implies continued use of mouse 1, therein not afm.

Given that most players who use medic have auto heal enabled which keeps healing when you don't hold the mouse down.

There's no definitive way to prove that each player has that setting enabled, giving those that disabled it essentially a freepass.

No such thing as a free pass, the rules work on assumed innocence.
If you can't prove they are rebelling then you can't take action. Not guilt before innocence.

Given that the majority of people use the setting there is no reasonable way you can assume that someone is not using it.

So originally i thought that healing is considered afm because of that setting however im pretty sure thats a setting you have to toggle on, by default that setting is off to auto heal so with that said, could i then rebind my voice commands to my mouse keys and explain that as still being afk because im not using my keyboard?

and slightly off topic yet on topic.. is swinging ur melee weapon afk?

*EDIT* and another thing, why is "This does not cover mic or chat" a part of the AFM rule but not part of the AFK rules... who uses their mic with their mouse.

  • AFK AFM - away from keyboard & mouse fully. This command halts all movement & actions.
From the JB rules section. I think it's hard to argue "All Actions" does not cover healing.

Actions when I wrote it, refers to things that require you to physically act to cause.
You don't need to act to cause the healing its automatic. In fact turning your healing off would be an action not keeping it on...

I'm really not sure why people don't understand this. The rules were meant to be enforced logically not based on whether or not you want reds to get a 'Free Pass'.

It's not like you clarified this in the rules so confusion was expected.

I can't clarify every single little thing.

I've always stated the rules are supposed to be interpreted logically there should be no clarification necessary.
But using such broad term such as actions and expecting everyone to understand it exactly synonymously seems somewhat far-fetched don't you think? I'm not saying you should write everything so clear, exact, and precise so its super specific, but if you want everyone to understand it a certain "logical" way you have to expect some conflict.
